When Work Becomes Less Stressful
Ok, I know you get tired of work and of making your cerebral faculty work for 8 hours a week. I mean, who doesn’t, right? Sometimes, the mere sound of the words paperwork, presentation, urgent, rush, and the like exhaust us already. But you can’t avoid them and the least you can do is help yourself manage everything you need to do while keeping your brain from short circuiting and your mind and body away from stress.
According to research, drinking a cup of coffee is a great way to start your day. Aside from the benefits it gives your health, it also stirs your senses, making you feel alive. Also, studies show that people who drink coffee in the morning has better performance at work than those who don’t. So have your cup, mug or tumbler always ready for that steamy coffee.
Don’t strain your eyes. Keep your eyes at least 2-3 minutes from your computer screen once in a while. Close your eyes for a while, roll them from side to side, then give them a gentle massage. The more focused you are on work, the less you blink. Dryness strains the eyes so help yourself with some eye drops.
Have a stress ball handy. It helps you release all the tension and exhaustion from your mind and body while allowing you to play with it and have fun.
Keep your notes on post-its away from you. They will only remind you of the tons of deadlines you need to meet. Keep your notes in a pad or notebook instead. In that way you, you see them only when you want to.
Make sure you have lunch and snacks on time. Don’t let your tummy growl before realizing you need to eat. Leave what you are working on when you can and take a break. Also, maximize the time if you can.
Make it a habit to do these tips. You’re sure to turn a dreadful work into something less stressful.
