Nokia’s new phone, the Nokia Lumia may have something which many smartphones don’t have: augmented reality. Nokia’s Beta-Labs is trying to come up with goods we might really need in real life. If you have the Lumia, you can get Nokia City Lens for free over at Espoo.
While the Nokia City app is still on Beta, it has shown much promise and it is listed in the “likely to graduate to a commercial product” in the Nokia Beta Labs site. For those who wants to join the Beta, the Nokia City Lens takes you to explore your city. With options to look into eight destination categories: nearby, food, hotels, shopping, famous, fun, sights, and transport. Once you tap any of these destination categories, you can begin to explore your city. It will take you on a map to your nearby locale and even on augmented reality. Using the Apps’ augmented reality mode, you can look at your city in a whole new different Lens.
You can try walking around the city, looking at it through the Lens of the app. Pretty impressive app for any gadget. Nokia City Lens is very similar to Monocle, its iOS and Android counterpart. However, unlike its counterparts, the Nokia City Lens has a slicker and more impressive interface.

We’re all used to some hardware that you attach to an iPad that adds to its functionality. There’s the iPad attachment that converts your iPad to an instant arcade. And since there’s an overall trend of things going retro, it’s no wonder the Etcher is getting much interest.
Etcher, the Etch A Sketch for iPadm was designed by Ari Krupnik. Just slide in an iPad and you can relive several memories from the yesteryears. It comes with the same familiar knobs that some of of have spent out childhood twisting, and like the Etch A Sketch, shaking it allows you to go for another round.
But the Etcher has one feature that most children would have wanted back when they were still playing / designing, the Etcher is able to save the images that you place on it. That feature would have saved a lot of heartbreaks, you wouldn’t have to lose your masterpiece if you want to make a new one.
On top of this save feature, you can also email your sketches to your friends or share it on Facebook. Talk about bragging.
Retro and longing for the pleasures from your childhood? Gadgetepoint is like a treasure chest of nostalgic goodies.

There’s a reason why the Walking Dead comic book series has been one of the more successful ones in recent history. And it’s this characteristic that Telltale Games hopes will be translated to the video game adaptation of the game.
Video games that have the zombie apocalypse as its theme is as rare as the cool items on Gadgetepoint, they’re a dime a dozen. And for The Walking Dead to translate its success from printed media to television to computer gaming, it must do something to keep it ahead of the pack. The formula that they will try to employ is the same formula in the comic books and the TV series, it will be its focus on the human interactions and relationships that is brought about by a zombie apocalypse.
Some may find this formula quite boring if applied to the video game platform, but the market for zombie gore games is tough. Resident Evil, along with other more popular franchises have been perfecting the genre for more than a decade and the Walking Dead story may not really offer as much explosions, literally and figuratively.
The AMC primetime series has been such a big hit and is now on its second season, we can’t wait for the third installment. To make waiting less painful, keep yourself preoccupied with the toys and gadgets from Gadgetepoint.

In a tablet market dominated by one product, competitors are adding more features to their creations to acquire a larger market share.
That’s what Samsung is trying to accomplish when they added new features to the already tried and tested Galaxy Tablet making it a universal remote for most entertainment systems and addressing the small memory issue with an expandable SD slot.
The new Galaxy Tab 2 will be released with 2 sizes. A smaller 7-inch version costing £157 and a wider 10-inch version costing £251. The smaller tablet will reach consumers in as early as April 22 while its bigger brother will come much later at May 13.
Oddly, Samsung will not be upgrading the resolution of the Galaxy Tab 2’s screen even though it’s rumoured that Apple utilizes Samsung technology to manufacture the new screens for the new iPad.
Currently, Amazon.com’s Kindle Fire is hot on iPad’s heels in terms of market shares. However, its smaller size and price should actually place it in a different category. This makes Samsung’s Galaxy series as iPad’s closest competitor when you factor in the size.
Toshiba on the other hand, went on another level with their new Excite 13 where they expanded the size of their screens to a whopping laptop-sized 13 inches.

Multinational Japanese company Toshiba is hoping you do find it exciting with their new product venture in Toshiba Excite 13. This behemoth stands out easily among other tablets, being 3 inches wider than the iPad and almost twice the diameter of most tablets in the market.
The Toshiba Excite 13 is a gaming brick equipped with a cool quad-core Nvidia Tegra 3 chip with GeForce graphics and a 1GB RAM. It uses the latest Android version 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) making it much faster than an Ipad in the gaming category. And like Toshiba’s previous projects in Thrive, the Excite is supposedly more exciting with a micro USB an micro HDMI ports and a full-size SD card slot to boot.
Users will surely not doubt this gargantuan’s giant performance when it comes to gaming, but the real question is, do you really need such a big tablet? Knowing the techies’ needs to be incessantly on the go, a 13 incher weighing 2.2 pounds might not exactly fit their lifestyle.
But Toshiba thought about this little obstacle before they announced its release in June 10. They claim that this is a family affair where three kids can share the tablet to play a game. It can also be used as a movie viewer that you can set up on your kitchen counter to view while having dinner.
With the world shifting to digital, it’s a good thing there’s still Gadgetepoint to provide you with non-electronic entertainment options. Who said you need electricity to have fun?

It wasn’t long ago when mobile mp3 players always used to be a separate entity from one’s phone. But with the introduction of a smartphone and iPhones, the mp3 music players are slowly saying bye bye to their existence.
In as much as the same case as the mobile mp3 players, the tablets and laptops would see the same direction in manufacturing in the near future. While most techies prefer to carry their tablets around with them, they still cannot ditch their very dependable notebooks or netbooks for those heavy tasks at hand.
Intel however wants to change all that with the introduction of the Intel Cove Point Windows 8 ultrabook-tablet hybrid which gives users the portability of the tablet and the reliability of the notebooks rolled into one sleek device.
The company released its design and concept in Beijing where a week long event hailed the Intel cove Point undeniable ingenuity.
The hybrid device can be switched unto two modes: the first looking like an iPad with its flat touchscreen and the keyboard resting flush against the back and the second mode with its keyboard spread out like an actual laptop.
With the capacity of an ultrabook, this device is promising to snatch the competition from iPad and other Android tablets with the right steps in marketing and performance.
The device also features a three USB 3.0 ports with its 12.5 inch screen. This feature alone can very well spell its victory over other non hybrid tablets.
In the meantime however, the technology is yet to be officially released and is still in the process of completion.

No one expects Titanice 3D to hit as big as the original. Don’t worry, it didn’t. And there really isn’t much incentive in watching the 3D adaptation of one of the highest grossing movie of all time unless you’re really a big fan of Jack and Rose and you have yourself your very own locket that resembles the one in the movie, the wearing-this-wearing-only-this locket if we may call it. But the Titanic 3D movie wasn’t so bad after all.
People were asking the big question, “why?” And since the movie was shot in the 90’s and 3D cameras were just a figment of someone’s imagination, you know that the reshowing of the classic movie was just pushing it. But it wasn’t that bad.
Even though the movie was filmed without the necessary 3D cameras the 2D-to-3D conversion was actually, quite good. There were depth to the scenes and you for some parts of it, it felt like being there. Not really a feeling that most people would want since some of the scenes involved being around dying people. But if you’re into that, we can’t really help you.
But what we can help you with is if you’re looking for the coolest toys and gizmos around. Head on to Gadgetepoint for that.
