A Look at the Diana
No, she is never too young and you are never too old. This, my darling, you need to be told. Oh, please, please, Diana.
The Diana, back in its time, was an ignored toy camera made by a small company in HongKong–the Great Wall Plastics Camera. Back then, in the 1960s, the Diana is the cheap alternative to the more expensive 120 format cameras. It was ignored, unappreciated and was not a success. Little do the people from that small firm know that years later, Diana had become a cult classic as its avant garde appeal had been noticed by artists worldwide.
The images produced by the Diana are soft, dreamy, gritty, the colors were super saturated, and it randomly contrasts. 10 years after its failure in the mainstream market, the Diana had become a cult classic and has then become one of the most sought after cameras for lomography.
The Diana had then paved its mark as one of the most classic cameras available for the avant-garde artist. Seeing that photography is gaining a feverish cult following these days, more and more are exploring other ventures regarding this craft and what better way to explore photography than in lomography.
