The Nintendo DSi XL has just hit the Japanese markets and it will be hitting the UK market as well any time soon.

Does size matter? And does bigger mean better? That’s what the DSi XL is trying to say. I has a larger screen than it predecessor, almost an inch, while the body itself is much larger than the previous DSi.

What can we expect from the DS with a larger screen? Well, because the screens are much larger, the pixels of the LCD would have to be larger too giving the screen a much blockier look. Though this would be ok to the target market of the Nintendo DSi XL which aims at the more senior gamers which would have a harder time looking at a small screen.

Because it is much larger, we expect the buttons to be larger too. When comparing the Nintendo DSi XL to the previous  handheld console, the size of the buttons are exactly the same. And this is rather inconsistent if it targets the visually challenged. The stylus is much larger than its predecessor though, and the tip can be accommodated by the larger pixels.
