Space Here We Come -UK
As the recent unveiling of the commercialized space shuttle which will take passengers outside Earth orbit had been officially released into the presses, the British government is looking to embark to have its own space agency.
True that there is the British National Space Centre (BNSC) which is the coordinating body for civil space activities for the UK, Lord Drayson (the Space Minister) is set to announce in the upcoming weeks the outcome of a twelve-week consultation on the matter.
The Space industry in the United Kingdom is a growing industry, it is expected to rise and give more than the £6 billion it has currently been giving to the British economy. Its growth is expected to continue to increase by at least five per cent for the next ten years. It currently employs 19,000 people.
Currently, the British National Space Centre (BNSC) is the one which coordinates civil space activities, it operates under ten British government departments and agencies. However, the BNSC is not an independent space agency. Its civil servants come from agencies, on rotation.
The current move of the British government to create its own space agency will open doors and make space tourism the next big thing in the tourism industry.
