Google and China’s relationship on the rocks, to say the least
We’ve reported earlier that a Chinese author has sued Google for its violation of copyright laws, now another issue arises as Google blames China for its email system being hacked.
The search engine and internet giant, Google, has threatened to pull out of China because the strict regulation and monitoring of Google’s operations by the government was said to cause some damages in the search engine’s email arm.
Google.cn, the Chinese equivalent of the popular search engine, is no longer willing to be filtered by China.
The company will try its best to negotiate a legal unfiltered search engine, either that or the internet giant will exit the market of China.
So, it clearly states that Google’s split with China is not yet final, the effect of this decision will be quite minimal to the Chinese internet users as Google only plays as the alternate, next to local favorite Baidu Inc which shares a significant, even controlling stranglehold of the market.
People are applauding Google for taking a clear stance on censorship and they are proud with the company’s corporate social responsibility.
You know who else is happy? Microsoft, the search engine’s tightest competitor and third to China’s attention, will benefit immensely if Google chooses to exit the market.
You do not need to use a search engine to look for the coolest gadgets, just type on your address bar, Gadgetepoint.co.uk.
