Facebook is vulnerable to hacking.

If you carefully read the instructions when adding third party apps on your Facebook profile, you’ll see that these programs will ask for your permission to access your web information and even publish them online.

Aside from the fact that users hardly took notice of this warning, Facebook has now granted third-party apps permission to gain access of your online information without approval from the Facebook users.

This change was to allow an increased adoption of third party applications which would translate to more revenue from the company.

The research of Nitesh Dhanjani and security researcher, Shlomi Narkolayev said that hackers could tamper on to Facebook accounts by tricking users into clicking on sites under the guise of valid websites, but in truth, they are just viruses or malicious content.

Simon Axten, the spokesman of Facebook, said that the attacks are not unique to Facebook but could also happen to other websites that allow consumers to use third-party apps.

As added protection Facebook is building some preventive measures for these types of attacks, they will reminding people to be more cautious of any link that they find on the website.
