Apple Launches iPad
There has been a buzz all around many social networks, over at twitter our friends have been raving or ranting about the launch of the new Apple iPad. The Apple iPad is a ten-inch touch screen device which had been formally unveiled in a special San Francisco event on Wednesday.
There are people who comment that the iPad looks like a ten-inch screen iPod Touch. Similar to the iPhone, the iPad is powered by the same OS which powers the iPhone. The battery life for the iPad is pegged at 10 hours, and it can last on standby mode for a month, Steve Jobs boasts.
The WiFi enabled iPad is expected to ship 60 days from now, and the iPad with the optional 3G function will ship out after 90 days from the unveiling. The 3G service for the iPad will be paid to Apple on a monthly basis.
The iPad aims to battle Kindle with the new service in the iPad known as iBooks, which allows users to purchase and read books directly on the device. HarperCollins, Simon and Schuster and McGraw Hill are among the publishers signed to provide books to be read on the iBooks. It still has mapping tools as well as calendars and other iPhone applications.
“It’s the best browsing experience you’ve ever had,” Jobs said to people who were in the event.
