Back in the 90s when portable technology was just bourgeoning and casette tapes were still popular, the Sony Walkman lorded over the portable music market. Their significance waned when the CD was introduced and by the time that mp3 players defined the industry, the Sony Walkman became just another participant in the game, defeated by the iPod.

But Sony will do its best to recapture the market that was once theirs. Their strategy is old school but it’s what every listener wants — good old fashioned sound quality. The karaoke -like lyrics is also bound to make many Apple afficionados switch to Sony.

Sony puts out an effort so that the music that will be coming from their devices is as crisp as possible.

Meanwhile, Hisatsugu Nakamuta, Sony’s general manager for marketing, stated the results of an internal survey that pointed out that 32.4% of Japanese teens said that they chose the revamped walkman over other products because of the lyrics that flashed as the song is played.

And with just a click on the GoKaraoke button, the voice becomes muted, the lyrics become visible and the Sony Walkman is turned into an instant Karaoke player.

That would be fun. Gadgetepoint knows what fun is, check out our website to see what’s in store for you.
