Radiohead is set to release their eighth studio album and they are going the independent route.

The King of Limbs, the majorly successful alternative band’s latest album, will come out on Saturday. And who will be their record label? Themselves. They bypassed all major labels and will be making The King of Limbs available for download on their official website.

The band is doing it again. EMI was the label that they have gone for in their sixth album, but come 2007, Radiohead opted to do take the road alone with their album In Rainbows.

“Thank you for waiting”, this was the message that greeted their fans when they were told about the quintet’s upcoming album.

But a CD version will still be released. Just like their previous album, XL will release a CD and 12-inch vinyl copy of the album a few weeks after The King of Limbs’ online debut.

And just like most of their previous chart topping albums, Nigel Godrich will be working once again as the band’s producer. He has been with the band since 1997 from OK Computer onwards.
