Why Buy the iPad 2?
Very few high profile items get these much rants in the first month of their release, but the iPad 2 makes sure that it gets its fair share of negative feedback.
Bloomberg didn’t like it: “Nothing more than a luxury bauble that will appeal to a few gadget freaks.” Not did Businessweek: “Consumers seem genuinely baffled by why they might need it.” Gizmodo joins the criticism: “My god, am I underwhelmed.” Marketwatch agrees: “Insanely great it is not.” And Orange County Design Blog wraps it up: “An utter disappointment and abysmal failure.”
Having these much hate is not good for Apple, but not quite. The iPad 2 is still selling a good number of units.
But let’s see, what are the improvements of the iPad 2 to its predecessor?
It’s lighter by 15 percent. But the iPad’s weight has never been an issue. So if you own an iPad and found it too heavy then it’s a perfect time for an upgrade, since it’s only the same price as the old one.
Or maybe you found it too bulky? Well, Apple has that problem solved for you. But you need to cough up $500 for a new Wi-Fi only model or $830 for the model that has Wi-Fi, a larger memory, and cellular internet connections.
If you think that the fact that the first iPad’s main drawback is that it does not have two cameras, then lo and behold, the iPad 2.
Or if you firmly believe that the iPad is way too slow then the coughing up a few hundred dollars will be a good investment for you.
But in any case, the iPad 2 is just an attempt to do the same things that its “copycat” competitors have been able to do a few months back, and tagging it with the Apple label, something that the consumer society regards with so much prestige.
But you know what the perfect reason it to have the iPad 2? If and only if you do not have the first iPad. But if ever you do have the the first release, you’re better off spending your hard earned cash in a more feature packed substitute.
Gadgetepoint is packed with so much kooky stuff and gadgets but we guarantee to not be as expensive as this new Apple release.
