Guiness World Records declares that the Microsoft Kinect is the fastest selling selling consumer electronics device ever. Even better than the iPod and iPad.

The dominance of the Wii in the console gaming race has been very noticeable. It is perhaps the Wii was able to tap into the casual gaming market. The motion sensors of the was such a big hit. Microsoft’s Kinect camera for the Xbox 360 adds this similar feature the console. Xbox 360’s Kinect not only sold enough to make their competitors cower in fear, it sold enough to break records.

On March 9, Microsoft revealed the stats and it’s quite clear that no other electronic device has sold as fast as the Microsoft Kinect. Since the launch in November 2010, 10 million Kinect sensors were sold worldwide. Not bad, right? But what’s jaw dropping is that in it’s first 60 days, Xbox 360’s performance enhancer was able to sell eight million units, that’s equivalent to 133,333 units per day.

“According to independent research, no other consumer electronics device sold faster within a 60-day time span, which is an incredible achievement considering the strength of the sector.” said Gaz Deaves, the Gaming Editor for Guiness World Records.
