Movies and Books Galore on Google’s Android Market
Apple has an App Store? Well, Google has an Android Market. The biggest rival of Apple’s App Store recently went through a make-over, making it an even more formidable opponent. The Android Market update presents an improved interface design on handsets, offering more options to help users find new applications. To top it off, the Android Market, in the tradition of iTunes and iBooks, has begun to make books and movies available for purchase and even for rent. Android Market follows after the trend for “cloud” services where purchases are linked to the users’ Google accounts and is accessible on their mobile phone, tablet, or computer.
However, don’t get too excited just yet. The new service is only available to US users for the time being. As Google claims, “selected countries outside the US” are to be added at an unspecified later date. The prices for movies start at $1.99 in the US. Video content will normally be streamed; however, an option to download for viewing at a later time or when where there is no internet connection is also available.
Cheers! Rivalries like this mean one great thing… better services for consumers, available at excellent deals. Want to know where else to get the good stuff? Give Gadgetepoint a visit and have a go at it!
