Yahoo Pirates Google’s Marissa Mayer
Marissa Mayer is one of Google’s Chief Executive–until Yahoo! decides to pirate her and make her CEO. Yahoo! has long been trying to have an edge over Google and Facebook and this big move seems to be one of those steps in that direction. This move will make her one of the biggest female players in the entire Silicon Valley today.
Marissa Mayer is not new to reeling in novel ideas. It was her idea to make Google’s front page look as sleek as it is now. Gmail, Google News and Google Images were also some of her best ideas. She is currently employee number 20 in the Internet powerhouse. Now, with her big move she will be Chief Executive of Google’s direct competitor.
She begins her new reign in Yahoo! today, July 17, 2012. Her plans include boosting Yahoo! Mail, Yahoo! Sports and even push Yahoo!’s video broadband and Yahoo! Mobile. Marissa Mayer will be replacing Scott Thompson who stayed only four months in the CEO position after issues on his college degree began to surface.
Mayer is quoted to be excited for her first day in Yahoo! Only time will tell us whether this venture will prove fruitful to both parties.
