Kevin Scott of UK’s De Monfort University is looking for investors that will help fund his one of a kind idea of a bendable bike; the bendable bike by the industrial designer is a bicycle with a flexible frame that enables it to be wrapped around a pole without using a lock.

The frame itself is steady and rigid while biking, it would be a sure trip to the emergency otherwise if that were not the case, but pushing a lever actually collapses the bike and it can then be wrapped around a pole.

He received £500 from the judges so that his idea will be fully developed; whether that amount is enough to further his research and development is up to you.

The BSc Industrial Design graduate revels in his victory and states:
“This has validated how I feel about the product. It’s a justification of the uniqueness of the design and the possibilities for taking it further. I intend to use the prize money to outsource production of some of the key components to allow for full testing.”

Kevin Scott even adds: “I am now going to take this forward to produce a fully resolved solution and hopefully this will be a stepping stone into a career in the bike designing industry.”

The World Cup may be the biggest sporting event after the Olympics. And Twitter’s traffic is proof that the world has football fever in the World Cup 2010.

Twitter can’t handle this much traffic. World Cup 2010 has been making fans tweeting every single goal that is made. Causing 2,940 tweets per second when a player successfully scores for their teams.
The site normally sees about 750 tweets per second, and every shot missed by the goalie made the system heavily clogged.

Meanwhile, the NBA Finals was able to generate 3,085 tweets per second, this though can be misinterpreted as the match between Lakers and Celtics trumping the popularity of soccer, which is not the case as it is basketball’s finals compared to the World Cup’s elimination round only.

Imagine what happened during Game 7 of Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers, it’s football and basketball fans uniting to clog Twitter’s network.

The guys from Twitter expected an increase in the number of tweets, but what they didn’t anticipate was that the increase in traffic will be this much.

This increased traffic in the website has been causing some problems to Twitter, and the management might do a complete network overhaul once the football fanaticism has calmed down.

Gadgetepoint’s Love/Hate mugs has some designs to make your football fever even worse.

There have been claims that Nintendo’s gaming console has positive effects in a person’s cardiovascular functions, but these claims were often relegated into the background and these researches were said to be inconclusive.

Well, the Wii has the American Heart Association to back up such researches.

On Monday, Nintendo and the American Heart Association (AHA) are joining in on a campaign to promote an active and a healthier lifestyle through the physical activities made more enjoyable by the Wii and the Wii Fit.

In pursuit of this thrust, Nintendo is set to have a health summit where medical and other industry professionals will tackle the emerging issue of the lack of physical activity in many children and and other age groups as well.

The AHA sees that the Wii may actually be a very effective partner in achieving this goal and tackling the issue of child obesity. They are now giving Nintendo Wii their official endorsement so that people will start believing the researches that prove the health benefits of the Wii.

Who’s going to say that such studies are inconclusive now?

If you’re looking for a fun physical activity in the summer heat, why don’t you visit the nearest pool and make sure to bring your Waboba Ball, with you. The ball ‘bounces” on the water’s surface, check out their website for details about the Waboba Game.

The Waboba Ball, along with many outdoor toys can be found at Gadgetepoint

“I just squirted 16.4 kgs of milk out of my teats in 6:58 seconds. What did you do today?” tweeted Contrast Amanda in her very own Twitter page.

While Freeride Speedy tells us that May 14 wasn’t her milkiest day: “At Thu, May 13 ‘10 9:25 pm I entered the robot stall. In 4:38 secs. the milker massaged out 10.9 kgs of milk.”

But that’s a lot compared to what Attention Please has been giving, she tweets: “Tried again, but no luck. Boy do I need to unload.”
Contrast Amanda, Freeride Speedy, and Attention Please are only some of the cows that have something to say and they voice out their views primarily about milk production via Twitter.

Cows at a farm in Ontario, Canada are Tweeting about how much milk they produce. The cows are milked electronically and the time and amount of their production is then recorded, the other parts of the Tweet messages that the cows send out, of course, do not come out of their bovine wit, but they were coined and prewritten messages that Marcel O’Gorman from the University of Waterloo and company wrote.

The Teat Tweet project helps in the voluntary milking system of these cows and the farmer is able to monitor their milk production and some of the operations of the machine.

Like the Teat Tweet Project, you can also follow Gadgetepoint one of the coolest online gadget stores out there. Follow us on Twitter.

Don’t you just love a relaxing weekend? But do you often find it impossible to unload the stress that you reaped during weekdays? Most people are like you. That’s because there’s a mountain of pending tasks to accomplish or maybe—even worse—because you need to bring home office tasks and work with it at home during your day off.

This is just one of the typical scenarios in the world of a busy bee. But hey, haven’t you thought about giving yourself a break? I mean you deserve one after all. If you can’t afford to get lazy on both Saturday and Sunday, maybe you can choose your favorite time of the weekend to relax at least a couple of hours. Here’s our highly recommended weekend quick fix:

Prefer pancakes over cereals. For someone who’s always on the go like you, you’re palates are used to fast food. Making pancakes does not require a lot of effort. Have it topped with fruits and syrup. A scoop of ice cream makes it extra special. Or should you like something playful, why not serve yourself some mood toasts. It’s light, fun and hassle-free!

If you have your weekly workout routine, you can always do it while you’re engrossed in watching your favorite sci-fi movie. If the weather is good, have a nice stroll at the park while you grab your groceries, gardening tools or garage supplies.

Bathe and Relax. As in take your sweet time taking a shower. It’s not everyday that you feel as if you’re in a spa so take advantage of your fave time of the weekend. Try to light some magic candles or the scented ones. You can also do this while listening to a soothing music installed in your waterproof mp3.

Do work with fun on the side. It doesn’t matter if you do chores, fix a broken appliance, or work on that computer during the weekend for as long as you do it without injecting additional stress into your tired mind and aching muscles.

Imagine for one second that you have the most powerful flashlight you have ever had in your life sitting in the pocket of your pants. What do you use it for? Have you ever wondered if there are any other uses for a powerful flashlight aside from lighting up your room when there’s a power failure?

If you’re ever in front of a campfire with your friends, you can always use this ultra power flashlight to make your face look extra creepy while telling a scary story. You can also use it to fetch a fallen key in a small drain before the waters wash it away. It is dark in there and there is no better source of light to use than this slim flash light. Don’t worry about it getting wet and dying because this baby’s waterproof.

Do you walk along a dark alley by yourself on the way home? Are you scared of the creatures that go bump in the night? Scare off a creature of the night or a mugger by shinning this beauty on their eyes. The extreme light might just make them think twice about doing the nasty things they do. You can even poke them with it because it’s shock proof.

The best thing about this is that the light is so bright, you can see it from a long way out. Try standing on top of a hill and communicate with your friend using light signals. But make sure your buddy’s standing almost a kilometer away on a different hilltop. It’s quite fun too. What better tool to bring people together than this wonderful face changing, life saving, communication device that’s also a flashlight!

Do you love to go camping especially during summer vacation? Well, camping is indeed one of the outdoor activities that never fail to excite us—kids and grown-ups alike. But oftentimes, we encounter chains of unfortunate events that make this recreation rather a disaster. That’s why it is essential for us to master the art of camping for a fun and flawless activity. Here are some quick and clean camping tips you might want to take note of:

Prepare everything you need 2 days before your trip. Better have a checklist of what to bring, and what to do before, during and after camping. To bring list should contain everything from clothes, to food, to skin protections such as sunglasses, umbrella and sunscreen, to the smallest tools and equipment you need during your stay at the campsite.

Pack and consolidate things as much as you can. Put the paper towels in the pots. Remove toilet paper from the roll and pack in zip locks, socks inside your shoes, etc.

Your emergency kit should include the ff: pocket knife, flashlight/emergency light, rope, lighter or matchbox, and medicinal kit.

Bring food that are easy to prepare. If you like to have barbeque, better marinate the meat at home so the meat will be all tender and flavourful. Same goes for pancake batter or sandwich spread.

Bring hairspray and ammonia. Hairspray repels insects such as flies and bees. Ammonia keeps animals away from your garbage.

Sleeping bags reflect body heat back to you. That’s why when worse comes to worse, you should take your clothes off and sleep naked.

Wear clothes that are light-colored. Insects such as mosquitoes are twice attracted to dark-colored ones.

Last but not the least, make sure to inform someone where you’re going and always stay on the marked trails for safety reasons.

Not all road cones are conical? Those pillar-shaped moveable bollards with similar functions as those cone-shaped ones are also called by the same name.

Different types and sizes of traffic cones:
• 300 mm (12 in) 1.5lbs- for indoor/outdoor applications
• 450 mm (18 in) 3lbs- for outdoor applications such as free-way line painting
• 700 mm (28 in) 7lbs -For Non-Highway applications eg. Local street
• 700 mm (28 in) 10lbs – for free-way/high-way applications

The biggest traffic cones—sculptures—can be found scattered throughout the Olympic Sculpture Park in Seattle, Washington. The five cones measured around 20 feet tall, created in 2007 and were placed in the park in May the following year.

There’s also a hat that is designed after a traffic cone. It’s called the Inflatable Road Cone Hat, a headgear for those who are fond of road cones. This fun stuff is usually used in some parties like costume or Halloween parties, games, etc.

There goes your dose of fun facts about traffic road cones. Many are simply fascinated about them. Some want to take home and own one even if they don’t actually need it. Indeed, these cones, like the Inflatable Road Cone Hats are eye-catching, cute and totally cool.
