Kevin Scott of UK’s De Monfort University is looking for investors that will help fund his one of a kind idea of a bendable bike; the bendable bike by the industrial designer is a bicycle with a flexible frame that enables it to be wrapped around a pole without using a lock.

The frame itself is steady and rigid while biking, it would be a sure trip to the emergency otherwise if that were not the case, but pushing a lever actually collapses the bike and it can then be wrapped around a pole.

He received £500 from the judges so that his idea will be fully developed; whether that amount is enough to further his research and development is up to you.

The BSc Industrial Design graduate revels in his victory and states:
“This has validated how I feel about the product. It’s a justification of the uniqueness of the design and the possibilities for taking it further. I intend to use the prize money to outsource production of some of the key components to allow for full testing.”

Kevin Scott even adds: “I am now going to take this forward to produce a fully resolved solution and hopefully this will be a stepping stone into a career in the bike designing industry.”

So, you like the song that your friends are playing and you’re dying to have a copy of that catchy tune. How you wish that they’re playing it through their celphone and they could Bluetooth it to you. But they’re not. Well, it’s ok if they’re playing it with their mp3 player or their psp, you could just copy the file to a computer and paste it in your player. But they’re not. And you see one thing that gives you the biggest frown that day, they’re playing it through their ipod.

The ipod isn’t bad per se, in fact it’s one of the most well loved players these days. But there is one thing about the ipod that not every one loves – it’s not the best with music transfer. You have to be well-versed in hacking things just to extract a single song from an ipod to another system.

Good thing there is this new item called miShare. What the miShare does is it enables you to transfer a song from an ipod to another ipod without the hassle of syncing the original mp3 to the new ipod.

Everything from songs to movies to photos can now be transferred from one ipod to another. Even a whole playlist can be copied to the other music player. Ipod touch and Iphone users will not be able to enjoy this gadget yet but the developers are looking into further improving this product.

While we’re waiting for them, check out Gadgetepoint.co.uk for useful and unique gadgets.

Hygiene Alert
If towels, bathroom slippers, toothbrush, toothpaste, soap and shampoo are provided by the hotel or resort where you will be staying, then lessen your toiletries baggage by eliminating those things. Just grab your deo, hand and body lotion, contact lens solution, cotton, wet ones, alcohol, etc. Repack them into a smaller container. This way, you will get to leave the bulky part of them.

Safety First
Aside from the first aid kit that you should never ever take for granted, you must also take care of your medication in case you have a heart problem, migraine, asthma attack, car sickness, and other medical ailments that concern you. Carry with you portable medical equipments such as nebulizers, heart rate monitoring machines, etc. Temperatures and altitudes can directly affect some conditions so do check with your family physician. Put everything in an emergency box, mini tin or bag and keep it always within your reach (i.e. nightstand of your hotel room, or globe compartment of your vehicle).

Food and Money
Lastly, bag food and money and everything will be all set. Bringing too much cash is dangerous. Prepare just enough cash and credit everything else to your card. And for emergency purposes, have your ATM cards ready and remember to check the location of the ATM machines in the place you are about to go first for your piece of mind. As for the food, granola bars, cereals, cookies, and healthy chips are the good ones to pack. Avoid greasy food because you don’t want get all the trouble that oil can give when travelling. Also, these dry goods are safer to bring—no fuss, no leak, no mess. If you are on a trip with kids, remember when to give or keep the sweets. They are energy boosters so you don’t want their sugar rush when they are already overexcited about your vacation.

There you have it. Packing made easy! Now, you don’t have to fret yourself about bagging everything you need in your trip. All you have to remember is the most important concept: pack light and pack just the necessary.

Every one of us has one major dilemma that we face before hitting our vacation haven and that is none other than, the packing dilemma! This is inevitable especially to travelers who wish to bring the whole closet and believe you me, some might even pack the whole house if they could. Problem is, even if we are not flying, we are still guided by certain limitations on how much things we can carry (i.e. luggage capacity and car load capacity). To help you deal with this predicament, let me present to you what I call the golden rules of packing.

Clothes Control.
Unless you’re going to a fashion Shoot in New York or Paris for that matter, you’re not gonna be needing all the contents of your closet. Bring what you think is necessary. It is nice to think of what outfit you need for each day. Instead of wearing light clothes and accessories, why not choose the dark ones? They hide dirt and stains so you need not to change every now and then. This is especially appropriate for t-shirt, jackets, coats, scarf, belts and even jeans! Bring a pair or two of shoes that will complement all your planned attire for the entire trip. Remember to have enough undies! You don’t want to be short on them!

Gadgets Rule.
Gadget for communication and entertainment that is! I am not suggesting your whole entertainment system with the flat screen TV, movie player, surround sound equipments and all. If you wanna have them, you gotta be resourceful and bring handy versions of your home entertainment system—mp3 player, travel or portable speakers, game consoles, etc. Board games and playing cards also do the trick when it comes to breaking the ice. It is also important to take with you your GPRS, laptop or palm top, and your mobile phone (don’t forget to secure the charger and extra battery cell if you can).

To be continued…
