Twitter bug allows more than 140 characters

It is common knowledge for Twitter users that a tweet can only have 140 characters on it.

But au contraire, a recent Twitter bug shows that users can post up to 3,000 characters, maybe even more.

The bug was reported in the Twitter Development Talk Google Group by forumer Chris White. He posted a step-by-step procedure of how to exceed the 140 character limit that the social networking site has. He said that when you go directly to the Twitter Share URL (http://twitter.com/share?url=) in your Firefox browser, and type your text after the “url=” then you could type as many characters as you want.

For example: “http://twitter.com/share?url=Gadgetepoint is the best place for the coolest and hippest gadgets, And what’s even better is that they deliver right at your doorstep. Check out the website and prepare to be excited”. If you type this in the URL after you log-in, you’ll be able to make this your status message even if the truthful statement is more than 140 characters.

But such “feature” or “bug”, depends on how you see it, wouldn’t be there for a long time as Twitter employee John Adams thanked Chris White online for exposing the said bug and stated that, “I filed a bug with our webclient team,” Expect that this feature or bug will no longer be available in the near future.

That’s too bad. If you the above message can’t be posted in Twitter anymore, you might as well try to see if the statement is correct by visiting Gadgetepoint.

There’s a Giant Burmese Python Snake on your lawn

If you’re a tough guy whose into gardening and you think that garden gnomes and flamingoes border on the pansy side of things, how about adding a Giant Burmese Python Snake to your garden’s repertoire.

Not only will you be attracting a lot of attention from your neighbours, you’ll also get a hefty number of reports from animal control groups to get rid of that scary, slithering reptile, until they visit your lawn and realize that the Giant Burmese Python Snake in your garden is only a replica.

A double take is expected, but every now and then expect a scream of fright, but will you be held responsible for the monthly number of patients that fainted from fear that are reported near your garden’s vicinity?

At nearly eight-feet long, the snake replica is made of high quality resin and craftily hand-painted to the most intricate of details.

The product is available from Toscano and costs roughly $400, a huge price to pay for a fake snake; but the look from your shocked neighbors — priceless.

But if you’re not willing to be bugged by neighbours demanding that you pay their medical expenses after they’re rushed to emergency rooms, you might want to try something safer, yet still fun from Gadgetepoint.

Mask that allegedly works better than Botox

Again from Japan, where almost all things “kawaii” and out of this world come from, comes the Houreisen Face Exercise Mask.

The Houresisen Face Exercise Mask is presented as a very cheap alternative to going under the knife and having botox injections to prevent wrinkles and other lines that show the effect of gravity on one’s skin.

Since the mask costs only $8, it offers a significantly cheaper option to other non-natural methods.

Fasten the straps behind your ears and start doing what the Asian girl is doing on the left side of the picture. And achieve results like that on the Before and After shot.

Putting the Houreisen Face Exercise Mask on, and closing and opening you mouth for ten minutes each daily would make you achieve such results. Not only does it take away visible lines off your cheek and chin, we’re thinking the mask also makes your skin give out a radiant glow, it makes your nose bridge more prominent, it makes your lips less chapped; not to mention that it could change your whole bone structure.

Things that another “After” model can do for you or Photoshop.

Of course we know that you’d rather spend your $8 on things that are more worthwhile, that’s why Gadgetepoint welcomes you to its online store.

Meta Cookie is cookie cheating

Takuji Narumi of the University of Tokyo is venturing into another aspect of virtual reality — food.

There have been numerous attempts at virtual reality that involves gaming, sports, and other physical activity, but a few have ventures into this aspect.

With the Meta Cookie, you wear some weird tubed contraption on your head. It allows you to view the cookie at your hand from a different light and a different smell.

You start off with selecting the cookie flavor that will make your mouth water most; grab an actual cookie. This is the time that the Meta Cookie works its magic, it makes a plain old bland cookie look like the scrumptuous pastry you’ve ever seen by altering how it looks like through the goggles, plus it adds scents to the whole picture to make you think like you’re munching on the genuine article.

Of course, the device may be on the expensive side, and you’re better off buying an actual cookie instead of cheating like this.

But think of the scientific implications of the Meta Cookie for people with diabetes and other conditions that require them to monitor and restrict their diets on a regular basis.

ThermoGame gives gaming more heat

The Tokyo Metropolitan University is keen on adding a new element into console gaming. First the vibrating game controller made the PlaystationOne’s gameplay more immersive. Now, in terms of immersion, who could beat the Wii’s controls? Though the research will not revolutionize gaming, it might just add a little something to make gamers more involved? But the question now is, will it make much of a difference?

We’re talking about ThermoGame system, a strip on your controller that increases or decreases temperature based on the scenario that you are seeing on the screen.

<
If it's an adventure game where you're supposed to save someone from a burning house, expect the heat to rise. But if you're making an espionage attack on a faraway base in the north pole, expect the controller to give your hands a chill.

Well, thin doesn’t mean though that you should ready your bandages and burnt ointment as the ThermoGame systen will only change the temperature within a ten-degree difference.

The addition of the new hardware is quite easy, but will game publishers step out of their way to add a specific code to their games to indicate or trigger such temperature changes?

And since we’re on the topic of temperature, Gadgetepoint’s Weather Station measures temperature and humidity and a whole lot more, it’s a handy gadget to keep around!

You’ve had enough of beer for that day, and you’d like to call it a night. But your bottle is still half full, or half empty, depends on whether you’re an optimist or a pessimist. Ministry of Justice Launches Legislation.gov.uk

Legislation.gov.uk went online today. This incredible website presents every single article of legislation in the UK, spanning around 800 years of British laws and including all revisions throughout history since 1267.

The website was put up to replace the websites for both The Office of Public Sector Information and the Statue Law Database. These two will be shut down over the next few weeks.

Legislation.gov.uk, the new ‘one stop shop’ for the statutes cost £419,000 to create from last year’s financial budget and consists of 6.5 million web pages with matching 6.5 million PDF documents.
During the launch of the website, a spokesman from The National Archives said, “Legislation.gov.uk is the first website which shows all of the UK’s laws throughout time. By merging two sites into one, it will ultimately deliver long term cost savings and better value to the tax payer.” What’s even more impressive is that the site will be updated every day at 2.30pm with the latest legislative changes.

This shall allow anyone and everyone the chance to scrutinize and to better know the law… right at their finger tips.

Can’t wait to visit the site? Before you do, take a quick peek at Gadgetepoint and you might find something you like. It’s completely legal… promise!

Pop cap pulls out Michael Jackson resembling Dancing Zombie

“Any resemblance between Dancing Zombie and persons living or dead is purely coincidental” — that’s not what the estate of Michael Jackson thinks and the King of Pop’s dearly departed demands PopCap to remove the back-up dancer summoning zombie out of Plants vs. Zom ies.

The undead version caricature of the King of Pop was in the game even before he has passed away; but with the resemblance was too close to the image of Michael Jackson in the music video of Thriller resulting to some complaints from the Estate.

“The Estate of Michael Jackson objected to our use of the ‘dancing zombie’ in Plants vs. Zombies based on its view that the zombie too closely resembled Michael Jackson. After receiving this objection, PopCap made a business decision to retire the original ‘dancing zombie.’” stated PopCap’s rep in a statement issued by MTV’s Multiplayer blog.

Dancing Zombie gets a makeover, and becomes groovier than his predecessor; Even the description changed for this revision in Dancing Zombie, “Dancing Zombie’s latest album, “GrarrBRAINSarblarbl,” is already rocketing up the undead charts.”
