It is no secret that Facebook is one of the most visited website in the world. With more than 800 million active users, Facebook could easily be one of the most defining things of today’s generation. Facebook constantly changes to provide dynamism to its users. It has recently changed from the Facebook wall to the new Facebook Timeline.

Facebook Timeline was first made available to developers and some select beta users. It has only been made available to everyone today.

Facebook Timeline is a complete overhaul of the Facebook look. As with the many times the social networking site has changed, it has gotten mixed reviews from users. Some were annoyed at the new look, while some adore the change. One of the most noticeable changes on the new Timeline is the addition of a Facebook cover photo, a header which is put on top of one’s timeline page.

It has gone under public critique too many times over its changing privacy controls and policies, which has caused many people to be annoyed and disappointed by the many changes. Many people rally to bring back the old Facebook, but it seems like Timeline is here to stay as it has been the biggest change in Facebook just yet.

Stalking an Old Flame? Use Facebook

Oh social media, the many uses you have.

Facebook obviously is begging for it to be used for stalking purposes. And we know that you’re guilty.

Whether it’s that new girl in the office, or you just want something to use against your boss. You could simply want to know if your neighbors have a criminal background (which you might not find out in Facebook, actually), or you’re just itching to know if you’re doing better than your ex. You’ve done it; you’re guilty with at least one of these.

But surprisingly only 10% of Britons admitted to using the social media network to get some information on their previous flames.

But those iwho answered “Yes” to doing this did not simply want to get some information about their ex, they wanted to get back together. Then the 10% isn’t to shocking really.

One percent of the respondents even slept with their exes after reconnecting online.

A smaller number, about 4% used Facebook to trace long-lost family members.

It was FinderMonkey, a people finding service, who conducted the said survey.

“I have to admit to being surprised that one in 10 of us have tracked down exes through Facebook, but pleased that very few have followed it through.” said the company’s spokesperson.

“I guess the curious side in all of us loves to know how people are getting on, even those we’ve shared a bed with in the past.”

“Finding friends is probably the easiest one to do, especially if it isn’t about rekindling an old romance.”

“Most of us are really pleased when old mates get back in touch and Facebook and other social media has made this possible within an instant.

“We hear stories all the time of friends meeting up this way and it’s always heart-warming to listen to the stories.”, he adds.

If you’re looking for relationships, social media is a great place to start. But if you’re looking for the coolest but cheap gadgest, you don’t need to look to far just go to Gadgetepoint and have it delivered right in front of your doorstep.

And the battle becomes more heated.

Google + still has a long place to go, it’s user base is not even 3% to that of its toughest competitor, Facebook. With a whopping 750 million as opposed to Google’s 25 million.

Sean Ryan, director of game partnerships went out ahead and concluded that Google has no users based on the fact that the percentage of sales from the games’ in-game items for Google are only at 5% as opposed to Facebook’s which is 30%.

Allow us to explain it further.

Games like Farmville have in-game items that can give your gaming an added boost or an unfair advantage compared to those who do not avail of these extras. Why isn’t everybody availing of them then? Well, not everyone is willing to pay the price.

Some gamers would opt to pay for these items so that the game will be quicker, etc. etc. but for some casual gamers, the price to pay is just not worth it.

In any case, buying these items will benefit both the Farmville crew and Facebook. Facebook gets 30% of the sale.

“Google has emulated aspects of our system, which is what they have the right to do,” said Ryan.

But the difference between the two social networking sites is that Google only gets 5% of the sale. “Google is at 5% because they don’t have any users,” Ryan declared.

Getting stressed from all the competition in the world. Allow the countless cute stuff from Gadgetepoint to relax you.

With more than 35000+ followers in the newly launched social networking site Google+, Mark Zuckerberg is the most famous user. This piece of news is surprising and even funny to many as Google+ is said to be the killer of Mark Zuckerberg’s Facebook.

Google+ has been praised all around the internet. Tech reviews and users have found it very exciting and user-friendly, and is good for all ages because of its privacy. Google+ features a very strict privacy algorithm which makes every social networking site out there tremble.

Facebook’s brain Mark Zuckerberg is the most followed Google+ user, even overshadowing Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin. Zuckerberg had confirmed its authenticity and has admitted that it is indeed him who owns the most ‘circled’ user profile. Nothing is posted on his public profile, yet. While he is followed by perhaps half of the Google+ population, he only seems to follow his Facebook friends–or his friends from Facebook. Could it be that he is checking out the competition? Very competitive of him, we must say!

Perhaps you would like to follow the internet mogul? Or follow his footsteps by becoming more competitive? If competition is right up your alley, brush up your competitive skills with these board games.

Google+ is set to be the New Facebook. But not if Facebook can help it. Perhaps this was born of the fear of Google that Facebook can kill Google off completely.

Facebook is said to be trembling in its proverbial knees due to the most recent product released by Google: Google+. The beta release of Google+ seem to have Facebook wondering if they can actually beat Google if Google+ becomes succesful.

While you may say that you have seen every social networking site that the world has to offer–from Friendster, Myspace, Twitter among others–and have declared your undying love and devotion for Facebook, you have yet to change your mind about Google+. Or so, experts say.

Apart from being a social network which lets you share everything with your friends, the way Facebook is, Google+ lets you connect with your Gmail account. It allows the possibility of hooking up with your Google Reader, Google Labs account, even with your Google Friend Connect. Google+ is set to get everything in one place.

Facebook gave Google a run for its money. Facebook is the most popular social networking site in the planet. With one every eight internet user, having a Facebook account. It was designed based on the idea that the internet is a social entity, unlike any other website out there.

While Google+ overshadowing Facebook may not happen between now and the next month–maybe not even in the next two years, Google+ proves to be a formidable opponent early on in the game.

At least that is what many people have opined over the recent rise of the Internet Super Giant that is Facebook.

It seems that many opinion makers believe that Facebook can punt a serious dent in Google’s popularity–if not make the Internet Mogul be completely irrelevant.

Ben Elowitz, co-founder of Blue Nile and Wetpaint, is one of the strongest believers of this.

According to him there is but one thing which makes Google the superpower that it is now: it’s algorithm which could churn out the most accurate results for everybody–anonymously.

On the other hand of the spectrum, the reason why Facebook has its edge is its determination of the interests of its users.

Elowitz further explains:

Facebook’s data allows it to do more than just guess what its customers might be interested in; the company’s data can help it know with greater certainty what its customers are really interested in. And this key difference could potentially give Facebook a tremendous advantage in search when it eventually decides to move in that direction.

If Google’s business has been built on choosing which Web pages, out of all those in the universe, are most likely to appeal to any given (but anonymous) query string, think about this: Facebook already knows, for the most part, which pages appeal to whom—specifically and directly.

And, even more powerfully, Facebook knows each of our individual and collective behavior patterns well enough to predict what we’ll like even without us expressing our intent.

Whether it is true that in the near future, Facebook will make Google tremble in fear, what seems apparent is that there will be more and more people who will be on Facebook. Whether Facebook will move in the direction of search engines, we’ll never know.

Lior and Vardit Adler obviously ‘like’ Facebook, and since they ‘like’ the social networking website so much, the young couple from Israel went ahead and named their daughter Like.

Like, Lior and Vardit’s third daughter is their third child. She already has two other siblings, both of them with whimsical names such as hers. First born Dvash’s name means honey in Hebrew, and her sibling Pie also has a sweet name.

“If once people gave Biblical names and that was the icon, then today [the Facebook Like] is one of the most famous icons in the world,” explained her father Lior.

“I believe there will be people who will lift a eyebrow,” he adds, “but it is my girl and that’s what’s fun about it.”

The couple wants to name their child a name where she wouldn’t have a namesake in her classroom. So naming her Noa, or Maya, one of the common names in Israel is a non-option.

“To me it is important to give my children names that are not used anywhere else, at least not in Israel,” the father expounds.

But giving her after a verb or a very popular button in a website might confuse her when people are using the word in their normal conversations.

Find other things to llike when you visit, Gadgetepoint.

Mobiles with specific Facebook buttons are rumored to be featured in the latest releases from HTC. ChaCha and Salsa are said to contain Facebook-dedicated buttons that will allow instant access to the social networking site. HTC and Facebook both said they had cooperated closely on the development of the devices.

ChaCha and Salsa represent the most significant move of HTC towards its aim to creating, as Peter Chou – the CEO of HTC – said, ‘the ultimate socially connected phones with mass market appeal’. Henri Moissinac – the Head of Mobile Business of Facebook – said, ‘We have worked closely with HTC for several years on bringing Facebook to their devices and HTC ChaCha and HTC Salsa are the next stage.’

The ‘context aware’ Facebook button will be offering different functions depending on what the user is currently doing. The button will allow instant sharing of photographs or music from the phone. Status updates and information will also be displayed if the phone identifies a caller as a friend from Facebook.

All products will be available in the UK in the second quarter of 2011.

Facebook will soon be a simple push of a button away. Sounds very exciting right? Who knows what they will come up next? Visit Gadgetepoint to get all the latest news, all the time.

The chief executive of Yandex – Russia’s most popular search engine – Arkady Volozh, was quoted to say that there were two main reasons why technology companies such as Google, have failed to become more popular than home grown services: language and quality of service.
“The language barrier is a big reason and lots of US companies are still playing catch up in this area. And there is the bigger reason – Russian technology is just as good, if not better than a lot of similar US companies. Yandex has been able to keep ahead of Google because of the quality of its search and other key services. People will only leave a service if the quality starts dropping. In Russia, we have strong technological capabilities which shouldn’t be undermined. I don’t think companies like Google and Facebook can beat the Russian companies in Russia,” he said.
Dmitry Grishin, the chief executive of Mail.ru, Russia’s most popular email service and portal which also owns two social networks more popular than Facebook (Mail.ru’s largest shareholder Digital Sky Technologies also owns a stake in Facebook) in Russia shares the same sentiments.
These companies are looking to expand more in Russia and in the former Soviet Union countries… as do their Western competitors. Keep on visiting Gadgetepoint to see how the competition pans out!

A few went into hysteria, into some sort of panic, a few were skeptical. Well, skeptical you should be.

Apparently, Facebook users have nothing to worry about as the news from weeklyworldnes.com are not on the reliable side. In fact, reliability and truth is not something that they aim for. The website is consisted of jokes and other stuff where the truth to them are very much doubtable.

Weeklyworldnews.com has hoax for headlines. Scroll through their pages and you will see random nonsense like “Megan Fox Is a Man!”, “How to Sell Your Soul to the Devil”, and “Alien Spaceships to Attack Earth in 2011.”

Funny for many; though some think that Weeklyworldnews.com often goes beyond the line.

According to the shocking article: “Facebook has gotten out of control,” said Zuckerberg in a press conference outside his Palo Alto office, “and the stress of managing this company has ruined my life. I need to put an end to all the madness.”

The administrators of Facebook deny such news and state that they will continue to manage the website and such reports are false.

Looking for something that you can rely on? How about Gadgetepoint?
